MEXICO  - Angler's Inn at El Salto

The World's Best Bass Lake.  Attention Fly Fishermen!

All fishermen do some dreaming about the "big ones" now and then.  You've just taken the first step to making your own dreams come true.  We've been doing that for fishermen for a long time here at Anglers Inn.  One of the reasons we can is because we're smack in the middle of the most incredible fishing Mexico has to offer.  But that's just one reason.  A second reason, and it's equally important, is we provide services that match the awesome angling opportunities.

You'd expect any business to toot its own flute.  We don't have to do that.  There are others who do it for us.  You are probably already aware of what nationally and internationally known anglers who have visited Anglers Inn operations have had to say about the experience.  We're talking about writers like Bass master's Tim Tucker, top bass pros like Kevin Van Dam, and tackle industry leaders like Dave Pfeiffer, the top gun at Shimano.

If you ever have opportunity, ask internationally known writer and casting expert Stan Fagerstrom how he feels about Anglers Inn.  Or you might want to check with Bruce Holt, the chief executive officer for G.Loomis Rods.  Bruce caught four bass of more than 10-pounds the very first time he fished with us.

We're willing to bet big bucks the experts we've named will tell you Anglers Inn is one of the best fishing operations they've ever seen.  And keep in mind that some of these guys have fished all over the world!  If you want a female opinion, check with Katie Watson, the award-winning business lady from Kellyville, Oklahoma.  And try this for size: Katie has boated a couple dozen bass of more than 10-pounds in previous visits with us.  She'll tell you one of the things she especially likes, besides the wondrous fishing, is the feeling of security she has while she's here.

Regardless of where your travels take you, sooner or later things boil down to just people.  Ours are the best.  They take care of every need of each one of our visitors.  And that applies whether you're fighting saltwater game fish like marlin, sailfish, snook, roosterfish or during the down time you have when you've come in from fishing for bass on famed El Salto Lake.

Again---you don't have to take our word for it. Ask around.  Visit the top angling web sites.

Look at the fishing magazines. Watch television's fishing shows.  Better yet, give us a call.  We can provide you with references from here to breakfast.  We welcome that opportunity and we urge you to check them out.  We say that in part because there's another fact of which we're extremely proud.  Darn few of the fishermen who come here, you see, come only once.  Most want to come back and eventually do return.

They want to come back for the reasons we've just touched on---fishing thrills for anglers of all levels of expertise in a safe and secure environment, beautiful surroundings, excellent food and a hustling staff that's second to none.

GETTING THERE

As we mentioned before, getting to the Anglers Inn Lodge at El Salto Lake poses no problems. You get to Mazatlan and we’ll take it from there. Lake El Salto is located in the state of Sinaloa about 1 ½ hours from the picturesque port of Mazatlan and about 800 miles from U.S. Border at Nogales, AZ.

Mazatlan is the main gateway city for commercial flights and private planes: You’ll be met at Mazatlan’s International Airport by members of the Anglers Inn staff. We’ll see that your luggage gets to the Anglers Inn Lodge when you do. There will be a tray full of our special Margaritas waiting there for you!

Our repeat customers, and there’s a raft of them, already know what to expect. They’ve come to anticipate the warm greeting they know they’ll get from the capable members of our friendly staff. And that reminds us that we want to mention one more time how easy it is to verify everything you’ve just read – just ask someone who has been here!

Buena suerte, Amigo! We’ll be looking for you.

ABOUT THE DREAM LODGE

We like to watch the eyes of our guests the first time they see Anglers Inn Lodge at El Salto Lake. It’s unlike anything you’d expect to find up there in Mexico’s Sierra Madres. It sits right on the shore of the lake. You won’t find anything else that even comes close to matching its location, facilities or service.

Nobody “roughs it” at Anglers Inn. You can come with a fishing partner or your wife and kids. Our lodging is designed to handle the needs of everyone from corporate executives to couples. You won’t be driven over curving mountain roads to get her. It’s paved freeway all of the way.

Here are just some of the amenities that are part of the Anglers Inn package:

  • Full time electrical power

  • A well stocked tackle shop. If you didn’t bring it, we got it!
  • All rooms have private baths and air conditioning
  • Three meals per day in a first class restaurant serving both Mexican and American food.
  • Daily laundry service
  • Satellite television in the bar and dining area
  • Both telephone & Internet service available if needed

LAKE MATEOS

It’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s brim full of bass!

Sound too good to be true?  Guess again!  Just ask the relatively few anglers who have fished it in recent months.  There is such a lake---all 55,000 acres of it.  And one of the best parts is that the fishing pressure is almost unbelievably light.

These are the primary reasons why we’ve decided to open an Anglers Inn Lodge at Western Mexico’s Lake Mateos.

Take the MONSTER BASS Challenge!

Fish the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series for your chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to Mexico's fabled Lake El Salto!

If you land one of the heaviest bass in your regions of the 2006 ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series presented by Advance Auto Parts, you may win more than the daily big-fish prize. You might qualify for a special tournament hosted by Anglers Inn on fabled Lake El Salto, Mexico. After the 2006 season, 12 ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series anglers will compete for additional prizes in the MONSTER BASS Challenge presented by BASS and Anglers Inn. The tournament will consist of one practice day and three days of competition.

To qualify, you simply have to catch the biggest bass in your division, and that fish has to be one of the two heaviest divisional lunkers in your region. So, the more tournaments you fish, the better odds of winning an expenses-paid 5-night/4-day trip to Anglers Inn on Lake El Salto (expenses include round-trip airfare, transportation to and from Anglers Inn, meals, room and fishing).

The angler who catches the biggest fish in the MONSTER BASS Challenge will win the Grand Prize of $25,000 to be used on account at Lake El Salto with Anglers Inn. The runner-up will receive an $11,000 credit with Anglers Inn.

Competitors vie for a chance to fish for Mexican Bass

BASS Times Staff Report

With competition underway in three of the six regions of the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series competitions, a 9-pound, 15-ounce largemouth leads the qualifying race for a unique big-bass tournament to be held next year.

The big bass was weighed in by John Harlow, a nonboater competing in the first Okeechobee event, Jan 8. Heavy as it is, a bass that size probably wouldn’t get much notice if it were caught in the special Monster Bass Challenge at Anglers Inn Resort on Mexico’s trophy hot spot, Lake El Salto.

Twelve lucky “weekend anglers” who land some of the heaviest bass during the 2006 ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series presented by Advance Auto Parts will receive an expenses paid fishing trip to El Salto, located near Mazatlan, Mexico.

The winner of the Monster Bass Challenge will receive a $25,000 account at Anglers Inn, while the runner-up will get an $11,000 account at the resort. The special tournament will consist of one day of practice and three days of fishing.

In recent years, El Salto has been kicking out 10 – to 12-pound bass regularly, so catches in the Monster Bass Challenge should be huge.

In addition to Harlow’s giant, several other bass heavier than 8 pounds have been weighed in on the Bassmaster Series trail, which consist of one-day tournaments at select lakes across the country.Only one angler from each division, and no more than two from each of the six regions, can earn entry into the Monster Bass Challenge so that competitiors in northern and central regions will have a fairer chance of qualifying.

As of March 9, Harlow’s bass led the Southeast Region/Okeechobee Division, while a pair of 8-12 bass caught by Gary Arnold and Joe Buddin, both at Santee Cooper, S.C. (Palmetto Division), are runners-up in the Southeast. Big bass catches are reported along with top finishers in the Bassmaster Series in each issue of BASS Times. The contest runs throught the end of 2006, and the Monster Bass Challenge will be held in spring or early summer 2007.

Lake El Salto is an impoundment in the Sierra Madre range of western Mexico, and it has become known worldwide for the number of 10-pound and heavier bass it produces. Trophy bass fishing has become almost a year round pursuit there. In fact, more big bass are caught in the postspawn than in the prespawn and spawning periods.
Most big bass are caught on large stickworms, 10-inch Texas rigged worms, deep diving crankbaits, topwater plugs and swimbaits. Lure selections change little through the seasons, but big bass typically congregate on deeper structure during the hotter months.
