COSTA RICA  - Crocodile Bay Lodge

One of the few upscale lodges in Costa Rica, facilities at Crocodile Bay Lodge include a first class resort adjacent to some of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches.  The Lodge is situated on 44 acres of tropical gardens located on the Golfo Dulce on the Osa Peninsula in Southwest Costa Rica.  The "Osa" has been described by National Geographic as, "The most ecologically intense place on earth."  In addition to the Conference Center which accommodates up to 80 people, the Lodge features 34 air-conditioned rooms, a swimming pool with swim-up bar, elevated hot tub and massage room.

Each guest room has two comfortable queen-size beds and a deck that overlooks the surrounding gardens.  Our spacious and well-stocked bar is open from noon to 10 p.m.  Domestic liquor and beer as well as your meals at the lodge are included in the package price.  The dining room serves delicious meals including fresh-caught tuna and mahi-mahi along with tasty Costa Rican beef.  Enjoy locally-grown coffee and fresh tropical fruit and juices with breakfast.

The Osa Peninsula is a lushly forested land jutting into the Pacific.  Beneath the surface of the offshore waters which can run several thousand feet deep, is the Cocos Ridge, that runs all the way to the Galapagos.  The complex mix of shallow and deep waters attracts a wide variety of fish, all within a short boat ride from the lodge.

On shore, the rainforest is filled with howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, tropical birds and other animals.  Much of the Osa is protected in Corcovado National Park.  In addition to the on-site butterfly house, the lodge arranges a variety of adventure trips and ecotours every day which are a delight for anyone interested in tropical nature.

Whether you are planning an executive retreat or educational seminar, the Osa Conference Center, which accommodates up to 80 people, can make your conference planning easy.  The Conference Center and its private veranda is available at no additional charge for our guests.  Our staff will assist you with Registration Services, Flight Schedules, Program Management, and Clerical/Support Services.

Fly to San Jose, Costa Rica.  In San Jose, an overnight stay is required if your flight arrives after 11:00 am.  After a relaxing night, you are transferred to the airport early the next morning for a short scenic flight to Puerto Jimenez, our staff will meet you and you can be out touring, relaxing by the pool or fishing that morning.

En route home, an overnight stay in San Jose will allow you to get the most out of your last day at Crocodile Bay.  Our package includes the hotel in San Jose, transfers and the local flights.  International airfare to Costa Rica is not included.

Bird Watching--We will take time to focus on the different species of birds that inhabit the Osa with our inland birding tours and new pelagic tour.  The inland tour will take us to a section of the Tigre River called Dos Brazos.  This is an excellent area for viewing inland birds because it is a secondary rainforest, which envelops a grand river.  Our unique proximity to the blue water allows us to offer a pelagic tour within 30 minutes from the lodge.

Beach Exploration--Come spend time on a beautiful sandy beach in paradise.  A perfect beach for children and swimming, Playa Platanares is one of the most quiet and secluded beach the Osa Peninsula has to offer.  While at this beach you will have the chance to see scarlet macaws, parrots, tanagers, kingfishers, pelicans and herons.

Rainforest--Come and see first hand the exquisite beauty of the rainforests of the Osa Peninsula.  While on this tour you will have the chance to see countless species of birds including toucans, hawks, parrots, and the famed scarlet macaws.  Indigenous mammal species include armadillos, sloths, raccoons, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white faced monkeys and squirrel monkeys.
Snorkeling--Let us give you a first hand look at what resides beneath the water.  We will take you to sheltered areas in the Golfo Dulce, perfect for snorkeling.  Underwater volcanic outcroppings with attached aquatic plants attract Pacific reef fish including Golden Jack, Blue and Gold Snapper, Freckled Porcupine Fish, Bumphead Parrot Fish, Spotted Eagle Ray, Spotted Scorpion fish and Giant Hawk fish.
Waterfall Rappelling--For those who are looking for pure excitement on their vacation we offer rainforest waterfall rappelling.  This is an excellent chance to get your adrenaline pumping while seeing the beauty of the rainforest at the same time.
Butterfly House--Experience the electric Blue Morpho fluttering nearby as you walk through our on-site butterfly houses.  Among the many species raised by our butterfly expert are Morpho Amathonte, Morpho Peliedes, Caligo Eurilochuis, Caligo Memnon and the Papilio Cresphontes.
Horseback Riding--Gentle horses allow the whole family to explore inland trails or beaches.  Ride on the beach at sunset and discover why many call this area pure paradise.
Surfing--Costa Rica attracts thousands of vacationers every year that are interested solely in the surfing.  The most famous spots include, Matapalo (20 minutes from lodge on the Osa peninsula) and Pavones (across the Golfo Dulce), renown for the second longest left break in the world.
Sport fishing--The Costa Rica salt-water fishing is world class with Bill Fishing in the Pacific Ocean for sailfish, Striped, Blue and Black Marlin, Dorado, Tuna and Wahoo.  Fishing in the Golfo Dulce For Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Bluefin Trevally, Sierra Mackerel, and Grouper is excellent throughout the year.  We provide a variety of inshore and offshore catch-and-release sport fishing options.
