BASS
FISHING MECCA - Terry Hollan and Rene Salazar, owners of
Lake Huites Lodge, have done what needed to be done at Lake
Baccarac for twenty years- constructed a lakeside lodge that is
a mirror image of their fabulous facility on Lake Huites. The
new Lake Baccarac Lodge will house 32 anglers at this Mexico
bass fishing mecca.Lake Baccarac was
stocked in 1978 with Florida strain largemouth bass. The lake is
25 miles long and five miles wide and is 30,000 acres at full
pool. The lake record and also the Central American record were
set in 1993 by Bruce Knutson of a 19.10 lb. bass. Lake
Baccarac’s favorite friend and part-time resident, Sonny
Talkington, caught an 18.11 lb. bass at Lake Baccarac. Mexico
bass fishing at its finest! Many of you who have frequented Lake
Baccarac over the years know Sonny and are aware of his infamous
log of all fish caught on the lake. We are happy to have him as
our neighbor and the lodge’s resident expert.
Until now, anglers were somewhat
inconvenienced by having to spend their evenings and nights in
facilities away from the water, but with the opening of the 2004
fall season, this has all changed. Now bass fishing in Mexico
has changed with our lakeside lodge, the brand-new Lake Baccarac
Lodge. Anglers are brought right to the water’s edge to stay in
our brand-new Lake Baccarac Lodge, overlooking Lake Baccarac and
the beautiful surrounding mountain scenery. Rene and his staff
are there to ensure your stay is topnotch – from the
air-conditioned, spacious rooms to excellent meals prepared by
the cooking staff to the housekeeping staff who will pamper you
– even washing your clothing daily. From the moment you arrive
in Mexico until you leave, the staff is there to meet your every
need and to make sure your stay is a memorable one.
Then there is the fishing. Brand-new 18 foot
Crestliner boats manned by Lake Baccarac’s most famous guides
(Sixto, Arturo, Antonio, Eddie, just to name a few!)
who have an intimate knowledge of the lake, most having twenty
years of experience on the lake, await you each morning to help
you realize every angler’s dream – that mammoth bass on your
line.
Lake Baccarac Lodge was built for one reason –
to give anglers another opportunity while bass fishing in Mexico
to stay in elegant accommodations while enjoying the world’s
best bass fishing. Whether there are two of you, twenty of you,
or you’re pulling your boat, we await your arrival so that we
may give you the best bass fishing experience you have ever had.
Lake Baccarac has come full circle and is once again a true
trophy paradise.

19.1
lbs is the official lake record; however, fish in excess of
24 lbs have been reportedly caught by local fishermen. The
season of 2003-2004, every time we turned around, clients have
caught 14 lb. fish, 15 lb. fish; fish over 10 lbs. with good
numbers of 5 to 7 lb. fish. This is a hot Mexican lake.
Obviously, Baccarac is back!
This
beautiful lake is nestled among the forested mountain peaks.
They have recently paved a major portion of the road, making
access from Los Mochis much easier. The drive is currently only
2.5 hours. You may also access the lake by private plane, as the
town has a 5,200 foot paved runway.
We have ten
brand-new 18 foot Crestliners with 60 hp motors, front and rear
trolling motors and depth finders.

Weather at
Lake Baccarac
The evening and morning hours are cool because of the cool, crisp
mountain air of the Sierra Madre Mountains. As the day progresses,
it typically heats up to between 84 and 90 degrees. Occasional
showers do occur, so a rain-suit is a must.
Lake
Baccarac Lodge Accommodations
Two anglers will share a room complete with air conditioner,
private bathroom and filtered water. The rooms overlook the lake.
Maid service is provided daily. Our economy rooms sleep three
anglers to a room.
Meals at Lake Baccarac Lodge
The cooking staff will provide a delightful array of dishes for
visiting anglers, including steaks and a variety of seafoods and
an elaborate Mexican dinner. Freshly made chips and salsa, along
with frosty cold margaritas, are always on hand to hold you over
until dinner is served.
Activities
for the Non-Angler at Lake Baccarac Lodge
Lake Baccarac Lodge is first and foremost a fishing lodge.
Activities other than fishing are very limited.
Packing for Lake Baccarac Lodge Fishing Package
Upon receipt of deposits, you will be sent a detailed packing list
and other literature.
Trip Cancellation and Travel Insurance Recommendation
A
fishing expedition will certainly offer you an exciting and
rewarding experience. Unfortunately, however, one undertaking such
an angling adventure must face the possibility that you or your
fishing companion might be forced to cancel your trip at the last
moment due to illness, injury or other emergency or sustain an
unfortunate injury and require medical services or worse, medical
evacuation during your trip. Trip cancellation and travel
insurance can help protect you and your travel companions from
these unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances. We will send you
the application forms from Travelex, a major, reliable insurer of
traveling
anglers. Typically, the cost of an extensive program is less than
$65 per $1,000 of coverage. It is wise to always consult with your
personal health insurance provider before undertaking any type of
travel to determine what is covered in the event of injury or
illness during your travels. |

this fish for Mike. Fish caught using a watermelon 8" Lizard in
14ft of water. When Mike hooked the fish it felt like he was hung
in the brush. The fish was caught on Saturday afternoon the 13th
