For more than twenty years, Mexico has been a popular destination for bass anglers in search of trophy largemouth bass.

The hottest bass lake in the world might be Lake Huites, located on Mexico's West Coast, outside the city of Los Mochis. When at full pool, Huites is a 30,000-acre man-made reservoir that had been initially stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass fingerlings to jump start the fishery. These bass have taken a liking to the mountainous climate, long growing season and an abundant, protein-rich diet of tilapia and shad and are growing at a rapid rate. When conditions are right, skilled anglers are catching in excess of 75 bass a day and 10 pound plus trophies are being caught with great regularity. The local guides have an intimate knowledge of this deep, clear lake and will take you to prime structures that concentrate Huites’ fantastic bass population.

We Listen to Our Customers
Currently, we have two Skeeters on the water and plan to add five more. The Skeeters are fully equipped with dual Fish Finders, Dual Trolling Motors, Water Temp, GPS and a 150 hp Yamaha. We have added these to our flotilla to satisfy the discriminating angler who desired more power, more accuracy and more comfort.

To initiate a reservation Lake Huites Lodge, a $600 per angler deposit is required. Final payments are due 30 days prior to your departure. A reservation is not confirmed until deposits are received.

Lake Huites Lodge Fishing Season:
September through June. Although the lake offers excellent fishing on a year-round basis, we’ve discovered that the months outside the prime fishing window of September through June are often extremely hot or rainy.

Travel Logistics* to Lake Huites Lodge:
The majority of the anglers travel to Tucson, Arizona and then take the AeroCalifornia flight to Los Mochis, Mexico. Upon arrival in Los Mochis, anglers will then be greeted and transported the 3 hour ride to the lodge. The last hour is on an unpaved road. We can arrange private air charters upon request from several U.S. cities. Please make not of the preferred flights.

*With groups of 8 or more we can also offer our Cabo Connection route at an additional cost of $250.00 per person from San Jose Cabo to El Fuerte, Mexico. Other than flying private plane this is by far the most time sensitive convenient route to go.
Lake Huites Travel Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Los Mochis, Mexico. Airport reception and transfer to lodge. Tuesday and Wednesday arrivals go straight to the lodge. Saturday arrivals may need to stay in El Fuerte Saturday before being transferred to the lodge early Sunday. You miss no fishing. Also, Saturday arrivals may need to be transferred back to El Fuerte after dinner the last night.
Days 2-4: (and extra days) Morning and afternoon fishing sessions on Lake Huites. Overnight at lodge.
Day 5: Return transfer to airport for your flight back home.

Weather at Lake Huites Lodge:

The evening and morning hours are cool because of the cool crisp mountain air of the Sierra Madre Mountains. As the day progresses, it typically heats up to between 84 and 90 degrees. Occasional showers do occur, so a rain-suit is a must.

Lake Huites Lodge Accommodations:

Two anglers will share a room complete with air conditioner, private bathroom and filtered water. The beds offer first quality US made mattresses. The rooms overlook the lake. Maid service is provided daily.

Meals at Lake Huites Lodge:
The cooking staff will provide a delightful array of dishes for visiting anglers, including steaks, fish and an elaborate Mexican dinner. Freshly made chips and salsa, along with frosty cold margaritas, are always on hand to hold you over until dinner is served.

Fishing at Lake Huites Lodge:
While it is true that the most experienced anglers return each day with reports of phenomenal catches, even novice anglers quickly learn the ways of Huites' bass and land them in numbers that they could never attain in the US. As the sun rises overhead, switch to a deeper approach using spinnerbaits, worms and crankbaits. For real trophies, look towards deeper water for the lunker of your dreams.

Two anglers are paired with an experienced guide. Lake Huites Lodge guides have been trained and retrained and are now some of the best guides in all of Mexico. All boats come with Depth Finders and trolling motors and are considered to be the best-maintained fleet in all of Mexico. Also, this season, Lake Huites Lodge is the only operation in Mexico offering an upgraded package that includes 19' Skeeter Bass Boats, fully rigged with 150 hp motors.

Activities for the Non-Angler at Lake Huites Lodge:
Lake Huites Lodge is first and foremost a fishing lodge. Because it is so remote, there are not many activities that would make it appealing for the non-angler.

Packing for Lake Huites Lodge:
Upon receipt of deposits, you will be sent a detailed packing list and other literature.

A fishing expedition will certainly offer you an exciting and rewarding experience. Unfortunately, however, one undertaking such an angling adventure must face the possibility that you or your fishing companion might be forced to cancel your trip at the last moment due to illness, injury or other emergency or sustain an unfortunate injury and require medical services or worse, medical evacuation during your trip. Trip cancellation and travel insurance can help protect you and your travel companions from these unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances. We will send you the application forms from Travelex, a major, reliable insurer of traveling anglers. Typically, the cost of an extensive program is less than $65 per $1,000 of coverage. It is wise to always consult with your personal health insurance provider before undertaking any type of travel to determine what is covered in the event of injury or illness during your travels.
