**Bear
over Bait Special** See Rates below
During the Maine black
bear hunting season, we limit the number of guest slots available per
week to provide a unique bear hunting experience. We maintain 60 bear
bait sites, two sites per bear hunter, and provide portable tree
stands to satisfy both bow and gun hunters. Each fall hunting season,
our success rate averages to 65% of game taken and 85% sighted.
A highlight of our season - black bear hunting
with hounds in September and October, and we only book two bear
hunting with hounds guests per week. Bait sites are chosen to run four
specially trained hunting dogs. Our 90% success rate and record of
seven 400+ pound bears have been taken by hunters staying at our
complex.
"Craig and Gloria, You gave me the absolute, bar none, most
fabulous outdoor experience of my life." Jack E. McGehee, TX |

THE FORKS/WEST FORKS/PARLIN POND
TRAIL REPORT
2/28/06
Last weeks snow showers totalled about 6 inches, and dramatically
improved our trail conditions especially north of Berry’s Store in
West Forks. The first 4 or 5 miles heading north out of Berry’s Store
are somewhat rough in spots, but is easily passable and is being
groomed. Beyond this, snow conditions improve greatly, and the trails
are in good to very good shape. The trail system south of Berry’s was
groomed on Monday night and is passable, but needs a little more snow
before it could be considered good riding. Recommended riding is from
Berry’s Store heading north toward Coburn Mountain, Parlin Pond,
Jackman and Rockwood.
We
will be grooming Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this
week.
- Dead River Club Trail from Berry’s
Store to ITS 89 is in fair condition. There are some bare spots on
some corners, as well as some rough sections on the woods trails,
but it is easily passable.
- ITS 89 south toward Grand Falls is
in good condition. Rough through the woods, and some ice on the
roads. Note that there is no through trail beyond Grand Falls to
Eustis this season, due to a logging operation.
- ITS 89 north over Coburn Mountain
toward Jackman has great riding. Plenty of snow and the trail is in
very good condition. The trail to the summit of Coburn Mt is being
groomed.
- Shutdown Loop Club Trail has
excellent riding.
- ITS 87 north from Berry’s Store to
ITS 88 is in excellent shape. Again, the first 4 or 5 miles out of
Berry’s is rough in spots, but is easily passable. Once past the
Capitol Road, things improve greatly.
- Parlin Pond Connector Trail from
ITS 87 to ITS 89 is in excellent shape.
- ITS 86 North Road Trail is
generally in great shape. Rough for a couple of miles through the
woods, but improves once on the road.
- Enchanted Loop Trail has good
riding and is being groomed regularly.
- ITS 86 east/87 south from Berry’s
Store to Moxie Pond ranges from poor to fair, but is passable.
- ITS 86 east from Moxie Pond toward
Greenville is generally in decent shape. 1 mile section through the
woods is rough, while the roads are ok.
We
finally have some great riding, especially on our trail system north
of Berry’s Store in West Forks. To the north Jackman, Rockwood and
Pittston Farm are all grooming and report very good conditions. The
next 3 or 4 weeks will be the time to finally put some miles on the
sled.
Keep the speed down, watch for icy spots, and ride with caution at all
times.
